Excuse Me

I've lost my mind and have very little ass left on account of it being chewed every day at work.

I'm trying my best, but I have to say that my blood pressure isn't taking the stress very well.

In other news, I have acquired a loom and a knitting machine in the last two weeks. I haven't touched either of them on account of a 10 day trip to the other side of the continental US and the resulting pile of work that awaited me upon my return.

Coupled with just being busy going to practice in an attempt to keep my sanity and my cortisol levels in check, I just don't have time.

Saaaad.

In other news, I did finish a pair of socks (my first in oh...dare I say YEARS!?) and crocheted a big ass Granny Square blanket out of Noro Kureyon. No pictures, but I'm sure you all have great imaginations.

As for me, I'm going to imagine myself back on a beach in Maui...while I continue to hit the wall trying to find motivation to continue working even after 5:30 PM.

Obsession

This whole knitting blog thing is bad for me. The lurking and blogline reading and such.

I feel enabled to new hobbies and things all the time because of it. I'll see something on someone else's blog and be like, "oh, that's nice! That looks so fun and interesting." But I won't commit to it. I'll just observe. And live vicariously. And creep away.

But I'll keep coming back to it.

I'll research it. I'll shop around for alternatives. Hell, I'll look for every other reason under the sun as to why I DO NOT NEED WHATEVER IT IS. What I could be using that $$$ for... My resistance lasts about two weeks at best. I spent little time mourning the loss of my will power as I reveled in my new interest, until it runs its course.

That's how it was with spinning. I ended up with a spinning wheel. And I sold it. I'm not gonna lie: I miss my wheel. Selling it was a very emotional event for me. But I realized that as much as I loved spinning and the whole process of it, it was creating more of something I wasn't consuming (i.e. yarn, fiber stash). Oh, I miss my wheeeeeeeel.....!!! :( I should shut up. I'm hardly even knitting these days (bad knitter!)....

Yet, here I am again. $300 lighter and waiting anxiously for my new obsession to arrive in the mail.

I think I have a problem...

And that problem is that I have to dig out all of my yarn from my closet. I hope I don't get buried. ^_-

To be continued...

Dough!

I was talking to a co-worker recently, who told me that I tend to be easily distracted. I get into so many things, hobbies, and tend to lose focus. I'm not sure what that says about me. Some people would say it's like I'm looking for something. Others would say I just like to try new things. I don't really know. Maybe I'm just trying too hard to keep myself entertained...

Anyway, I'm into making bread since one of my favorite bloggers showcased a really neat bread book. I really enjoy the book and see bread-baking as a useful, economic skill.

This weekend, I made pecan buns. They turned out a little dry, and I put too much salt in the caramel topping. If I was in the mood for something sweet-and-salty, it wouldn't bother me so much. However, it did bother and I wasn't about to share something I wouldn't enjoy eating with other people. But let's just enjoy the aesthetics...It doesn't quite look like the picture...mostly because I used some chopped pecans left over from holiday cookie baking.
I wouldn't mind baking these again later on this week. It seems like the perfect warm breakfast food to eat, especially now that we're waking up to low 60-degree weather these days. Even Mae is not immune to the cold mornings. She's a little blanket hog!
No wonder I've been getting sick lately! She's all wrapped up like a little puppy burrito in the blanket, and I'm FREEZING! I may have to put baking on hold long enough to knit her puppy pajamas... maybe...

Happy Hearts

I went to Paris! No, I'm just joking. I went to Vegas. It was fun. And then I used this stencil
to make these
based on this website. Because it looked cool.

And I made a scarf out of Mmmmalabrigo. I need to take better pictures of it before I send it off to a freezing friend in Boston.
